My explanation must have been lost somewhere in Cyber Space :-( <br /> My quilt followed Alice's quilt, and I was inspired by her background (that looked like a "woven" background to me !), and by her "critter" - the fish.<br /> For my background, I cut bunches and bunches of batik fabric into 1/4" strips, then wove all those strips into a background that resembled the concrete on my patio. [Which is where I found my Cicada... RIP ] The fabric weaving technique is discussed in Anna Faustino's book "Simply Stunning Woven Quilts."<br /> I found the gorgeously beautiful (albeit, dead) Cicada on my patio and was enchanted by the brilliant iridescent colors, and the luminous transparent wings. Using techniques from both of Susan Carlson's books, I made a pattern of the cicada, then constructed her with fabrics that I thought would make her proud :-) <br /> What a GREAT challenge project !Kathy Hartehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18439720411059490863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728166793718979713.post-23169826439265892382016-01-14T12:10:44.236-05:002016-01-14T12:10:44.236-05:00Beautiful work ladies.
