This first quilt's inspiration is a photo I took of the live oak at the Alamo. Used hand dyes from Helene Davis of Paducah. Enlarged the photo using the grid format by hand.
This quilt portrays my daughter Laura. I call it "Doctor Laura'!
I call this quilt "Groovy Garden." It is painted canvas and fabric flowers in the style of our class with Katie Pasquini Masopust at Quilting Adventures in New Braunfels, in the spring of 2013. It was in this class that Jane and I met Alice, Carolyn, and Sara!
This quilt below is a whole cloth painted. It was started in a class with Judy Coates Perez. The flower petals are Kaffe floral as I got lazy painting. My favorite part was the blending on the moth.
Walking last fall and noticing trees with a gradation of color from one side to the next. Sketched out the trunk and sliced and diced the leaves. Background is painted with Setacolor. Ground is decorator brocade. I call this quilt "Divine Palette," and it is heavily quilted.
My daughter the artist's cat "Claude Monet". In the style of Andy Warhol. Fabric from one of my fave vendors Bold Over Batiks.
This quilt is called "Lexie." Notice: Dog tags on lower left! Lexie was Jane Hartfield's dog. When Lexie passed away this year, she had few photos of her. So I used one of her lying on the floor. I used fabric purchased at QA in New Braunfels, IQF in Houston, and Kaffe Fassett. All fabric with meaning to Jane! She loves it.
My son got married in 2012 in Boerne Texas. Based on a photo taken by my brother at the reception at Cibolo Nature Center. All fabric and thread. The light is luminiere paint. Note the wedding rings!
Gail, it was such a privilege to see all these quilts in Ft. Smith recently! You are going to be a superb addition to our group! These are truly wonderful.
