The theme seemed to fit. I made a rough sketch first (second image), then the quilt. Used my hand-dyed silk and cotton plus some commercial fabric. Maybe the election season affected my design!
Candace,I toyed with the idea of using the Narcissus legend in a quilt, but then steered away from that, as I feared my drawing skills were too weak. YOU have done a great job with the myth! Welcome to the group!
I did not know of the Narcissus legend/myth so I had to look it up. Beautiful interpretation of it. Love that you showed your sketch too! Interesting to see that the final product is not identical to your drawing showing the "progression" of your idea.
Hi Candace, welcome to the MM's! I love the Narcissus myth and your rendition is perfecto! I also appreciate that you included your sketch. I never do sketches, so maybe now I will try! Love it!
I think that your sketch is great and the finished piece is so good. Your work just flows, it appears to be effortless, but I can see a lot of work in there! I love her gazing into the water and seeing her enjoying her reflection.

ReplyDeleteGreat little quilt in true whimsical Candy style! Jealous of your ability to pull out a day dream and make it into a quilt. Delightful interpretation!
