Tricia's Boundary

Several years ago our family went on a ski vacation in Utah.  The snow was amazing and the powder was the best my son had seen. One morning they left me at the house as I don't downhill ski.  They hiked for 30 minutes past the lift and came to this sign at the Boundary of the ski resort.  They sent me this photo. Oh no!  They left the boundary and had a fabulous time skiing in amazing powder and returned safely!  When I hear of the theme boundary I thought this was perfect.

I printed the photo on Printed Treasures and then machine quilted it on the bottom following the lines of the wire fence . The top was machine quilted with a meander to represent snow.

  2. What a treasure! Better than a framed photo. Great theme interpretation. Why is it kids like to pull our worry chain?

  4. Yes, truly, this experience and this photo are great choices for this theme! Young people so often are eager to challenge boundaries, and usually it turns out okay. As it did this time for your kids! I love how you extended the fence to form part of your quilting!

  9. Hi Tricia, I had a giggle over this one. As a mother, I really related to your reaction! This was a magnificent choice for our boundary theme. I think your kids will fight over this one!

  10. I love how your quilting continued the image into the frame. I have saved a magazine article showing how to do that, but in my one attempt (actually a MM challenge) I was so not successful and when on to something else. You have inspired me to maybe try that technique again sometime. I love it!

  11. like Rita, I love how you quilted into the image. I really like this; it shows so much humor and family fun, but the quilting on it is really good. I zoomed in and saw that you signed your name with your sewing machine, right? awesome
