Patti's Mystery Quilt - Baby Greta, Who will she be?

My daughter is having her first baby, and our first grandbaby, on June 15th.  We do know that they are planning on naming her Greta but the rest of her persona is a mystery.  Who will she look like?  What will her personality be - very active like dad or more patient like mom.  I decided just to do a torso and a few days later wondered if I should have included her head.  I was so focused on her belly and thoughts of the baby, I never really paid attention to the lack of a head.  Oh well.  I did machine applique and free motion quilting.

  1. That was the first idea that came to me: how will all these children develop...such a mystery, always. As for the missing head, I remember someone's drawing something he wanted me to paint, a couple, and he left off the arms.I didn't know what it meant, and that too is a mystery.

  2. Congratulations Patti...how exciting. Love the expressive way you have depicted your daughter holding Greta.

  3. What a clever and charming quilt! How wonderful grandchildren are. You are in for such a treat! No doubt, your "mystery" little girl will be even more beautiful and delightful than you can at this point imagine her to be!

  5. Patti, you've really captured the mystery. It's exciting to see how grandchildren develop into their own personality! We just had our second, Jozy.
Congratulations and get ready to "fall in love"!!

  6. What a cute mystery depiction. Oddly, I like the headless Mom. Full focus is on contemplating the unseen. A very fun mystery indeed, and more to follow. Enjoy!

  7. Love the story and the quilt! I like that there is no head because as in your story you don't know who little Greta will look like and this shows that there is mystery in that. Great job!
