For this quilt I decided to print my own fabric! I then cut it into strips to get the look of landscape and perspective. I did some appliqué and a lot of thread painting.
My border was done with loops that I then tied with scraps of silk. It was a fun theme! I am traveling and doing this post on my phone which I've never done before! I hope this works
Love the "50" feel that you have captured...is it possible to re-post your photo so that it can be enlarged when clicked on? I'd love to see the details closer!
I love the energy of this piece - the texture and color are outstanding. The edge finish is perfect for the quilt. Your phone posting worked much better than when I have tried it in the past.
What a great venue to try so many new techniques ! And how fun to print your own cloth, use applique, and lots of thread to "paint" your newly made canvas. Your border is great !
Wow, Lois, we've got to learn more in Nantucket about your techniques. This quilt is mind-blowing. I am only browsing the blog on the day after the Reveal, so obviously at first the photo was too small. Now it sort of laps over into the text bar at the right, but at least we can now now it clearly as evidently at first viewers could not. Lovely piece!
I agree w Alice! I could learn so much from you. This quilt is indeed mind blowing. Love the way you did the binding. Filing that in my repertoire!!!! Fabulous quilt artistry. Trees are great. ❤️
Hi Lois, I just love your thread painting and am so in awe if the results you achieve. So very original and artistic! And the binding! Gail said it all!!!
Beautiful scene - I love the colors and soft watercolor like look of this! Want to see this in person so I can see your detailed stitching effects.

ReplyDeleteNo, still no bigger, but thank you so much for trying!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes it is a bit bigger, but still does not get any larger when "clicked" on.
ReplyDeleteI just love all your texture. The border is wonderful.
