My quilt is a little random, and I am calling it Retirement - My life, it feels, has become unzipped. Feel like I have had a big adjustment to working for the past 20 years with its schedules and regularity. My meandering reflects that fact, and I decided to border the quilt with zippers. I wanted to try some of the thread painting with the twisty ribbons. Enjoyed the process but I will use more pleasant colors next time.
Patti, I for one think your colors are VERY pleasing! You did an outstanding job with the thread painting; your ribbons are lovely. And the use of the zippers, so totally appropriate for the inspiration behind your Surprise quilt--your feeling of coming "unzipped" in the new world of retirement. Good job!
ReplyDeletePatti, how clever! Love the zippers. I "retired" at the end of 2008 and I'm STILL trying to get use to it, but I do love the trying part!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Many people can identify with that unzipped feeling. Your thread painting and the movements graphically describe! and those zippers...YES!
ReplyDeleteI think your thread painted ribbons are fabulous!!! I want to try it right now. I think your colors are lovely and the zippers a great commentary on your feelings about retirement.
ReplyDeleteI too like the colors and love the work on the quilt - it looks like it was a lot of fun in the creating. I actually DID adjust to retirement in a big way and wondered why I did not get more quilting done. Now I have had to work long days in DH's office for the last several weeks and can't wait to hire someone and get retired again!
ReplyDeletePatti, what a great way to express the meandering that happens to all of us when we retire! I also like the colors and the zippers for the border are just perfect. A great little quilt!
ReplyDeletePatti, beautiful stitching on the ribbon! I am looking forward to retiring and have my zippers ready!
