Tricia's Serenity

My daughter Michela and her boyfriend were traveling in the Vietnam this past February. They would post their pictures daily. It was such fun to see where they were. One day Michela posted a picture of her practicing yoga on a beach at Sunrise.  I thought it was the perfect scene for the Serenity theme.

I enlarged the photo and created the image with raw edge applique. I free motioned quilted it. It's hard to recreate the sunrise.

  1. Hi Tricia, Who would of thought to use this beautiful pose at sunrise for serenity? You did, and it totally communicates the message. I love that your daughter sent this photo to you and that you used it in a MM quilt!

  2. You captured it beautifully! And the silhouette of your daughter against the sunset--just lovely. A great interpretation of this theme!

  3. Ahhhh.... I can feel the warmth of the sun; hear the calming sound of the water; and share in the joy your daughter must have felt in this beautiful environment.

  5. I love the fabric you used for the sunrise. The floral design captures the feeling of the area and the movement is soft. Adding the touch of green gives it interest so that you can focus on the silhouette of your daughter. I love that you faced the quilt instead of using a binding. That really keeps the softness of the scene. Serenity was achieved!
