CAROLYN'S FABRIC SCRAP PIECES # 1 AND #2

PIECES IN MY MIND

I was playing around with scraps to make these
quirky little quilts.  No pattern for this, I just
set them in place on my design wall, so they have no rhyme or reason.  All Kaffe fabrics except for the tiny hot pink squares and the blue polka dots.

SCRAPPY QUILT #2

Still playing with pieces of scraps, I made
a second quilt, simply by sewing various pieces
together until I had a 12 x 12 piece of fabric that
satisfied me. I quilted in the ditch and added
various designs into some of the pieces.  I was
beginning to free motion circles when all of
a sudden a part fell off my machine.  So here
are my two yet to be finished little quilts!

    1. Oh, so do I. Fortunately, I have a great repair man, but he is about 35 minutes from me. Well worth the trip!!!

  2. Two really clever and eye-catching designs! So sorry about the piece that fell off your machine, but even not yet fully quilted, these are perfect for this theme!

  3. I really like the different effects you achieved with the same set of fabrics. Seems that having a machine shed parts while being used would be somewhat scary.

    1. Indeed! I think it was a small part in my free-motion quilting attachment. Ugh!!!

  4. Carolyn - What a perfect interpretation of our challenge word ! And regarding our sewing machines that seem to "Fall Apart" on us at the most inconvenient time.... Every time I sit down and get ready to sew, I gently hug my Bernina, and ask her to help me make it through another project. Most of the time she works just fine.... BUT every now and then she gets a little bit "Cranky" and all sewing / quilting comes to a complete halt while I try to understand what's bothering her. The Bernina Rep told me that when you get a "High End" machine.... you've got to anticipate some "Personality" problems every now and then.... ARGHHH !

  5. How wonderful to have two similar pieces quilts and both so pretty!!
Can't go wrong with Kaffe fabric in my opinion!!
Especially love the placement and use of fussy cut circles in Pieces 2!!

  6. Well ladies. I looked at the Bernina FB post and saw that some other women had a piece of their machine fly off! One posted a photo and behold, it was just like the piece that fell off my machine. What is it??? The automatic threader!

  8. As always I love your color choices and composition. Having the circles tumbling down the quilt gives the quilt great movement! Hope you get that needle threader repaired soon!

  9. I love star blocks and am especially fascinated with the star formed in quilt #1.
Both quilts, although very different, play so nicely together, too bad your machine did not (play nicely, that is!)
